Pinellas County Jail serves as Tampa Bay’s designated ICE holding facility. Detainee population has increased 60% since January 2025, with 200 inmates sleeping on the floor due to overcrowding.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri has pressured all Tampa Bay police chiefs to sign 287(g) agreements, backed by Governor DeSantis threatening removal of non-compliant officials. The Tampa Bay region has seen 2,922 immigration arrests.
